And then as chapter five goes on, Jesus is described. Anyone remember the descriptions of Christ
Seven horns and I believe it was seven eyes, uh, which speak of his sovereignty, his omniscience. Uh, the seven eyes also speak of the Holy Spirit. Uh, he's described as a lion from the tribe of Judah, uh, which we can trace all the way back to the Book of Genesis where Jacob blesses[00:04:00]
He's also described as the root of David, uh, which was interesting because often he's described as the descendant of David or the seed of David. The root is actually the source of David. So the Bible describes him as both, as do the Psalms. In fact, Jesus quotes the Psalm when he's talking to Pharisees.
If, uh, I forget how he words it. I quoted it last week. But basically, if the Messiah is David's son, how come David called him Lord? And it's just showing both aspects. From the human perspective, David is the root of Christ. From the divine perspective, Christ is the root of David. Christ is sovereign over David And then he's also described, as Shawna said, as this lamb with seven horns.
Okay. But it's an interesting looking lamb because the lamb has seven horns and seven eyes. And one of the things that I brought up, and I probably won't necessarily emphasize it tonight, but I do wanna make sure I was misunderstood.
